Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

What is temporary pumping?

Temporary pumping involves installing a system of pumps and piping to divert, transfer, or evacuate water on a construction site on a temporary basis. It is used during watermain work (pipe bypass), for excavation dewatering, or emergency pumping. Durax installs these systems turnkey across Quebec and Ontario.

Why choose HDPE over steel or PVC?

HDPE is corrosion-resistant, flexible, lightweight, and has a lifespan of over 50 years. Butt fusion joints create a monolithic pipeline with zero leaks. HDPE also resists chemicals and temperature variations, making it ideal for industrial and mining jobsites.

How does PumpWatch work?

PumpWatch offers two levels of coverage. Remote Mode provides 24/7 remote monitoring via telemetry with SMS and email alerts. Field Mode places a Durax supervisor directly on your jobsite. Either way, your systems never run unmonitored.

What territory do you serve?

Durax serves all of Quebec and Ontario. We work on municipal, industrial, and mining jobsites. For remote projects such as northern mining sites, we offer adapted deployment structures.

What HDPE pipe diameters do you fuse?

We perform HDPE pipe fusion in diameters from 2 inches to 24 inches and above, in all common DR ratings. We use certified equipment for butt fusion.

Are you a licensed contractor?

Yes. Construction Durax Inc. is a licensed contractor with the Régie du bâtiment du Quebec (RBQ) under license number 5865-9921-01. We are fully insured for all pumping, HDPE fusion, and light civil works.

Do you offer engineering services?

Yes. Durax offers engineering services for temporary pumping projects and civil works. We can provide complete pumping system design as well as sealed engineering drawings. For civil works, we also offer engineering solutions for counterweight, anchor, and structural design. Contact us to discuss your engineering needs.
